Biomechanics SIG Nominations and Elections

The Biomechanics SIG will be holding elections online, in line with the Academy of Physical Therapy Research. To be added to the ballot please complete the following form: Biomechanics SIG Nominations Form.

The following positions will be open in April 2024:

Position Descriptions:

Secretary - 2 year term

The Secretary is responsible for:

  • Attending and keeping minutes of the SIG meetings and Executive Committee meetings
  • Maintaining membership records and notifying SIG members of SIG meeting time/date/location
  • Presenting a report on the SIG’s membership at the annual meeting (and to the Executive Committee, Chair, and/or Academy as requested)
  • Maintaining the SIG’s archives (e.g., all official records, documents, and correspondence)
  • Preparing a summary of the annual meeting proceedings and any other SIG meetings for publication
  • Organizing/recruiting for the Biomechanics SIG sponsored session at CSM

Additional potential responsibilities as part of the Executive Committee:

  • Assist with social media promotion as needed (e.g., facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X)
  • Assist with webinar planning (1 webinar/year)

Overall time commitment: ~2-4 hours/month on average

Treasurer - 2 year term

The Treasurer is responsible for:

  • Maintain communication/contact with Academy regarding SIG-related monies and invoices
  • Developing and proposing the SIG’s annual budget to the Executive Committee
  • An annual audit of the SIG’s accounts
  • Reporting on the financial status of the SIG during the annual meeting (and reporting to the Executive Committee and Chair as requested, and to the Association as required)

Additional potential responsibilities as part of the Executive Committee:

  • Assist with social media promotion as needed (e.g., facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X)
  • Assist with webinar planning (1 webinar/year)
  • Aid Secretary as needed in organizing/recruiting for the Biomechanics SIG sponsored session at CSM

Overall time commitment: ~2-4 hours/month on average

Nominating Committee Member

Members of the Nominating Committee are responsible for:

  • Recruiting and submitting a slate of candidates for each open position on the Executive Committee for the upcoming term
  • Identifying and recruiting individuals to serve on other SIG subcommittees (e.g., Awards) as needed

Overall time commitment: ~1 hour/month March through October; ~2 hours/month, November through February
