The Department of Physical Therapy in the Congdon School of Health Sciences at High Point University invites applicants for a core faculty position. Core faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy represent a diverse area of expertise and have different roles within the Department. Collectively, core faculty are responsible for the delivery of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum, producing new research, and providing service to the Department, School, and University via advising, admissions, committee service, and other responsibilities designated by the Chair. Core faculty have a differential workload, meaning each faculty member is allotted varying amounts and responsibilities for teaching, scholarship, administration, service, and clinical practice. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual interested with a research focus. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a history of scholarly excellence, including peer-reviewed publications, and potential to pursue extramural grant funding and mentor student researchers. The Department of Physical Therapy at High Point University offers all the resources of a research-intensive institution with the quality of life of a small, private institution. We offer two outstanding, state-of-the-art movement analysis laboratory spaces (18,000 sq ft) in the Human Biomechanics and Physiology Laboratory (HBAPL) and the Virtual Reality and Clinical Gait Analysis Laboratory (VRCGAL). The HBAPL includes 48, 3D motion capture cameras strategically placed to include coverage of hardwood court, running and turf functional areas, 14 tri-axial force platforms, a high-speed instrumented force treadmill, integrated wireless EMG, and pressure distribution systems. The HBAPL also contains a fully automated Golf Simulator, a climate-controlled Environmental Chamber and a fully equipped wet lab for cell culture, tissue and serum assays. The VRCGAL has a virtual reality treadmill, an overhead body support device, exoskeleton, and a forceplate mat. In addition, the Department of Physical Therapy has state-of-the-art imaging facilities including an Esaote .25T G-scan Brio WB-MRI scanner, a CurveBeam LineUP WB Extremity CT imaging system, a Hologic DXA scanner, and several Esaote MyLabAlpha musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound scanners. QUALIFICATIONS: Education. Earned academic doctorate in a related field (required, PhD preferred). Physical therapy degree such as DPT (preferred). Experience and Training. History of scholarship and active research agenda (required). History of extramural funding (preferred). Statistical expertise (preferred). Experience teaching in higher education (preferred). Experience teaching in DPT education (preferred). Current physical therapy license and/or eligible for licensure in the state of North Carolina (preferred). ABPTS Board certification (preferred). The Department of Rehabilitation Science in the School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) invites applications for a tenure-track, state-funded, 10-month Assistant/Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Program. Rank of professorship dependent on experience. The successful candidate will contribute to the research, teaching, scholarship and service mission of the program. Research supported by extramural funding is a primary focus of the position. Duties may also include teaching lecture and laboratory courses; mentoring students, advising students; and contributing to ongoing curriculum quality improvement. Knowledge of higher education, experience in research, obtaining grant funding, and teaching and mentoring students are essential along with excellent communication skills. Successful applicant is expected to develop and sustain extramurally funded research with strong commitment to teaching, diversity and inclusive excellence. Ample opportunities exist to develop collaborative and translational research projects. The Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level. The faculty member is expected to establish an independent and extramurally funded research program of outstanding quality in an area closely related to biokinesiology. The focus of biokinesiology is understanding the biological bases of both healthy and disordered human movement; this includes how the human body adapts to growth and experience as well as to injury, disease, and aging within our society and health care systems. In addition to research, the faculty member will be expected to teach in the Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or PhD programs and to contribute to faculty and University governance. The Division has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in scholarship, teaching, and service. The Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at USC has a well-established 77-year history of teaching excellence and research innovation and impact. This includes the highly ranked DPT program and a PhD program in biokinesiology that has been graduating outstanding researchers for 40 years. The Division’s faculty is comprised of basic scientists, applied researchers, and master clinicians working in close partnership with community practitioners. The faculty clinical practices operate in acute care and outpatient settings at Keck Medical Center of USC, as well as in a network of private practices. Teaching facilities are modern and include spacious teaching laboratories, and two state-of-the art lecture halls. Faculty research facilities include motion analysis, exercise science, neuroscience, motor behavior and motor development laboratories and a dedicated clinical research center. The Division, which is administratively housed within the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, is located on USC’s Health Sciences Campus, and enjoys collaborative relationships with the other disciplines of the academic health center including medicine, occupational science and occupational therapy, pharmacy, speech pathology and preventive medicine. Keck Hospital of USC, the LA County + USC Medical Center, the USC Norris Cancer Hospital, the USC Arcadia and Verdugo Hills Hospitals, as well as Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles are also part of the campus community.
